Giving back in 2023 – Final Quarter Charity Update

That’s it, our ‘giving back’ to charities during our 5th Birthday year is over. How did that happen, his year has flown by! Back in January, Mallory Meadows turned 5, and Emily-Jane & Chris decided they wanted to make 2023 their year to ‘give back’! They have chosen a different charity for each month and donated £5 from every booked stay.

Mallory Meadows has gifted £2110 to 12 amazing charities over the year, which is wonderful! Thank you to everyone who has chosen to stay with us and helped raise this fantastic amount. We know that all the charities we have supported will put the donations to good use and are grateful for helping to spread awareness.

You can find the details of our 1st, 2nd and 3rd Quarter ‘giving back’ Charites on our blog.

Best wishes

October

Our selected charity for October was Meningitis Now.  The 5th of October is World Meningitis Day, a day to raise awareness of this deadly disease that affects millions of men, women, and children all over the world every year.  Meningitis Now is a UK-based charity whose primary focus is raising awareness about meningitis and supporting individuals and families affected by this disease.

If you can do one thing today, we encourage you to visit their website and familiarise yourself with the signs and symptoms of Meningitis.

This marked the 10th month of our ‘5th Birthday Celebrations,’ and we were thrilled to have donated £205 to support this worthy cause.

November

We chose SSAFA The Armed Forces Charity as our penultimate charity. Founded in 1885 the Soldiers’, Sailors’ & Airman’s Families Association or SSAFA as it’s known is the UK’s oldest national armed forces charity. They offer invaluable welfare, health and support services to the UK military’s serving personnel, veterans and their families.

We’ve also officially registered for a team challenge scheduled for next year! Come June, eight members of the Mallory Meadows family will be participating in the 13 Bridge Challenge. A 10-mile walk across the 13 bridges in central London. We aim to help raise awareness and funds for SSAFA.  Any contribution to our fundraising efforts, regardless of size, would be greatly appreciated.  Donations can be made here.

We were thrilled to be able to donate £190 to this wonderful charity.

December

The final Charity for our 5th birthday celebrations is Roundabout. Roundabout is South Yorkshire’s youth homeless charity providing shelter, support and life skills to young people aged 16-25 who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

The charity supports over 380 young people every day in Sheffield and Rotherham and wants to make sure that no young person experiences homelessness in South Yorkshire. They aim to empower young people to break the cycle of homelessness by making sure they have a safe place to live. Helping them develop long-term independent living skills and supporting them with their health, education, employment and training needs.

Emily-Jane & Chris’s first home was in Sheffield and it holds a special place in their hearts. They have donated spare ovens to Roundabout in previous years and are delighted to be able to support them again.

We are thrilled to have been able to donate £200 to this very worthy cause.
